LINE OF BRESSE: THE REGIONAL COUNCIL WANTS TO DO YOU GIVE UP HIS MISSION OF PUBLIC SERVICE?
In November 2010, we learned that the release of the Paris-Geneva modified schedule of 40% of express trains Regional Rhone-Alpes, with four trains replaced by buses on the Lyon-Chambery (see Article ). Today we learn that the Regional Council of Burgundy, despite a significant attendance (especially students) about to delete several rail carts, especially on the line of Bresse (Dijon / Bourg-en-Bresse) and consider replace portions of the line by bus. Bresse louhannaise would be directly impacted and threatened stations.
Our group is opposed to such a project because it is simply unacceptable. Limiting or removing local services, the Regional Council as it prepares to sign a new agreement with SNCF because of serious malfunctions in recent months to withdraw completely its mission of public service vis-à-vis many users, employees and students who use this line daily. Furthermore, replacement of trains by buses is to lengthen the travel time schedules with more uncertain and less service (and because he will be as good in winter on icy roads or flooded?).
In the environment, this decision is equally intolerable. Discourage users to take the train is to encourage them to take their car, which is a mode of transportation much more polluting than rail (and what to say coaches who contribute to the pollution of our campaigns?). The use of the car is also hard to bear an extra cost for certain categories of users, including students and employees the least affluent.
In view of this, we require the Regional Council:
- The immediate abandonment of the reduction in the timing of passenger trains on the line of Bresse.
- The maintenance and extension of a public rail transportation sustainable and consistent with the needs of all users.
- The renunciation of any involvement in the draft financial LGV Rhin-Rhone south branch and for allowing greater investment in improving regional services.
- A sufficient publicity Committees lines, enabling the effective participation of users
Instead of supporting unnecessary lanes new LGV bringing no real benefit to local users, our regions should instead develop in the areas of responsibility assigned to them. And improved transportation Express Regional (TER) for the most part of it. Residents and users should no longer be the permanent victims of political Railway mainly oriented towards financial logic and elitist.
